Do you ever feel lost in life? Do you feel behind the curve? Start working on these 5 powerful habits to get ahead of 95% of the people!
Bonus habit/tip at the end!
1. Wake up early but get enough sleep
It is important to have a consistent sleep schedule. Ensure you get at least 7-9 hours of sleep per day. Sleeping less on the weekdays and compensating for it over the weekends does not work!
You will be unstoppable by simply waking up early.
- It primes you for the rest of the day. You are full of energy when you are well rested
- It makes you mentally sharp. It leads to increased learning power
- It gets you a step ahead of your competition
2. Work on your health every day
Being healthy is a choice. It should be a part of your lifestyle. Exercise at least four times a week and eat healthy every day. Cheat days are exceptions and should be no more than two meals a week.
List out the exercises you like. It will improve the chances of it becoming a habit. You can also keep alternating between, walking, running, biking, swimming, lifting, or playing an outdoor sport. These will keep you entertained and motivated.
Eating healthy is an important habit for an exceptional life. Avoid fast-food, chips or sodas as much as possible. Healthy eating enables you to achieve:
- Clarity of thoughts
- Increased self-esteem and confidence
- Super Immunity
- A longer and healthier life
Working regularly on maintaining or improving your physical health is a common trait among successful people.
3. Practice Mindfulness daily
It leads to a strong, clear and calm mind. Activities like meditation, journaling, focused breathing, etc. help you become more mindful.
All the chaos and fast-paced life around us take a toll. Millennials and Gen-Zs are talking a lot about burnout these days.. It helps to take a moment to stop and soak in the beauty around us. A sharper and clear mind is multi-fold more productive than a constantly working and busy mind.
4. Develop a Growth mindset
Having a win-win mentality is extremely important for personal and professional growth. We have been hard-wired to think that life is a zero-sum game. My success means someone else’s failure. This is not the right way to think.
The world is in fact a positive sum game, where we can grow along with people around us. The win-win mentality becomes all the more important when you are working with people. The best way to navigate when working with people is to aim for a win-win.
People love it when everyone comes out as a winner from a situation. Also, people love to talk! The word will spread fast and everyone will want to work with you.
5. Read at least 30 minutes a day
Reading is a sure-shot way to improve your knowledge. And knowledge is power today. When you have the knowledge you grow faster than your peers and that brings immense power to be indispensable.
Reading about 30 minutes a day is equivalent to reading about 12-15 books a year. It puts you in the top category of the readers what we call ‘the unstoppable reading machine’. Keep reading, keep learning and keep growing.
Hope you found these 5 habits interesting and doable. Start working on them and be consistent to see the results. You will be astonished by the outcome and before you know it, you will be ahead of the curve beating almost 95% of the people.
It’s bonus time!
Bonus: Prioritize work based on the importance
Most of us have a habit of making to-do lists. We get cracking on it in the order of how it is written. Avoid working on the tasks mindlessly in the effort of striking them out fast! Use tools like the Eisenhower matrix to figure out which tasks you should be working on first.
Another important tip is to do the most difficult and important tasks as soon as you wake up in the morning. Decision-making tasks should be attacked first. As the day progresses, your mind experiences decision fatigue and you end up making bad decisions as your move towards the later time of day.
